Snow profiles: how to represent disjointed layers?
Steps to reproduce the problem:
-
Enter two disjointed density layers in Snowprofiler. This only works if a layer with density 0 kg/m^3 is also entered. Note: The calculation of SWE will be altered by the presence of that layer. This 'phantom' layer is then exported to CAAML too (snowprofile_82127_en.caaml) and SnopViz renders it accordingly (see 1st attached file).
-
Comment out phantom layer (snowprofile_82127_en-A.caaml) => rendering problems for SnopViz: the profile is not completed (see 1st attached file)
-
Delete phantom layer altogether (snowprofile_82127_en-B.caaml) => the two remaining layers are not rendered disjointed (see 2nd attached file)
-
Insert 'missing' instead of 0.0 (snowprofile_82127_en-C.caaml) => at least a clear rendering (see 2nd attached file). Note: file doesn't validate against CAAML-schema even though I believe 'missing' is a valid value for NonNegDoubleOrNilReasonType ?
I'd propose that the way disjointed layers are rendered in SnopViz be discussed first. In a second step the Snowprofiler export may have to be adapted.
